The goal of this project is to develop a self-paced virtual reality (VR) training system, CryoVR, to relieve two specific cryoEM training bottlenecks: 1) the observation of operation demonstrations by experts and 2) novice users’ familiarity with equipment and need to gain basic procedure and operation skills. The CryoVR system, when complemented with existing and developing theoretical and practical training already available, can enable potential users to complete their required cryoEM training in significantly less time and reduce the amount of instrument and staff time required for training.
